Copenhagen

Copenhagen Denmark:

On one of my trips to Norway, I took United Airlines and SAS, so I flew through Copenhagen. Copenhagen is a major hub for SAS, so many people visiting Norway on SAS would be routed through Copenhagen. It was about 14 hours of flying and airport stops to get from California to the Trondheim airport.

The Copenhagen Airport was very busy, and people smoke everywhere, in spite of signs and announcements. They have little carts for carrying your luggage all over the place. These are free to use, and you just leave them wherever you are when you are done. A crew is constantly collecting and redistributing the carts for re-use.

There are a large number of very nice shops in the Copenhagen airport, selling everything under the sun. Many of these are like real stores you would find anywhere in a normal mall, not like the typical duty free stores or newstands or most airports.

In October 1998 they opened a train station at the Copenhagen airport. The train station is directly beneath the roads in front of the airport. You can go directly downstairs and catch the train without having to go outside. One of my trips included a long layover at Copenhagen, so I took the train to the Central Station in the center of downtown Copenhagen.
