This document is a compilation of my thoughts and opinions about my Photography magazines. These are the opinions of the author of this page and reflect the opinions of the management of this web site.
We all know that there are dozens of photography magazines out there, catering to all sorts of tastes and styles. I have subscribed to a few, and I have bought copies of many more over the years. There are a number of very specialized magazines that are great for their intended readers, but for the average photographer, these magazines are just not very relevant.
In my opinion, the best mainstream photography magazine is PHOTOGraphic from Petersen Publishing. It is full of great photographs and outstanding articles covering a variety of subjects about photography. They often include special sections that are both informative and topical. They do reviews and tests and comparisons of Cameras, lenses and films. I have kept all of the past issues for years to use as references.
I have had a subscription to PHOTOGraphic for many years, and I will continue to do so. They do not provide me with any compensation for this page or for my opinions. I highly recommend PHOTOGraphic as a general photography reference magazine. They can be reached at their website for further information. (in the high technology section)
Many of the other Modern or Popular types of photography magazines (whose names I will not use for legal reasons) tend to be filled with a unpleasantly high percentage of ads, and therefore a lot less actual content on the pages.
On a slightly more specialized subject, I also subscribe to Outdoor Photographer from Werner Publishing Corp. It is full of stunning visual images and great articles about equipment, locations and techniques for outdoor photography. They can be reached at their website for further information.
If any editors or publishers want to send me samples of their magazines for me to review, I would be glad to review them and report my opinions on this page. ~Wink!~
